SEAGEP Career Shadowing Program

SEAGEP partners represent Research Extensive and Intensive Institutions as well as undergraduate teaching institutions, HBCU's, and community colleges and will provide students with the opportunity to shadow a faculty member to learn about alternate types of faculty placements. The partner institutions include Clemson University, University of South Carolina, and University of the Virgin Islands, all the South Carolina AMP Schools (South Carolina State University, Clemson University, Midlands Technical College, Claflin University, Denmark Technical College, Morris College, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, College of Charleston, Voorhees College, University of South Carolina, Benedict College, and Allen University) and Florida AMP schools (Albany State University, Bethune-Cookman College, Florida Community College @ Jacksonville, Florida A&M University, Florida International University, Florida Memorial College, Florida State University, Miami Dade Community College, Tallahassee Community College, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, University of Miami, and University of South Florida ), Savannah State University, Valdosta State University, and Fort Valley State University.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Enrollment in a UF PhD STEM program
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Commitment to a career in academia in a STEM field

To Apply: All items below must be submitted to be considered for an award

  • Fill out and submit the online student data form
  • An essay written by the student discussing their research experience, commitment to an academic career, and teaching philosophy statement.
  • A letter of recommendation from the student's major advisor or the Department's graduate director.
  • A written report of at least two pages upon return from the visit.
